This policy covers the PageSpeed → CLAUDE.md web app at lighthouse-md.com and the matching Chrome Extension.
TL;DR: No account. No tracking across sites. We send the URL you ask to analyze to Google PageSpeed Insights and return the result. We use Google Analytics on the web app for aggregate usage stats (IP anonymized). We don't sell your data. We don't share your data with anyone except Google PageSpeed Insights (to do the audit you asked for).
1. What we collect
Chrome Extension
- Active tab URL, only when you click the extension's icon or use the "Analyze this page" context menu. The URL is sent to our server (
lighthouse-md.com/api/analyze) so Google PageSpeed Insights can audit it. - Strategy preference (Mobile / Desktop), saved locally in your browser via
chrome.storage.localso we remember your last choice. Never sent to our server.
The extension does not read page contents, DOM, cookies, form data, keystrokes, mouse activity, or any other tab content. It only reads the URL string of the tab that is active at the moment you click.
Web app
- URL you submit, sent to our server only when you press "Analyze".
- Google Analytics 4, we use GA4 (property
G-CRVBDRJBNN) to count how many people use the tool. IP is anonymized. Events tracked: page views, "analyze started / succeeded / failed", which buttons get clicked, and which FAQ entries are expanded. We do not set first-party advertising cookies. - Server logs (Vercel), standard request logs including IP, user agent, and timestamp. Vercel retains these for 30 days for operational reasons. We do not analyze or export them.
2. Where the data goes
| Recipient | What | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Google PageSpeed Insights | The URL you submitted | To run the Lighthouse audit you requested |
| Google Analytics | Pageviews, click events, anonymized IP (web app only) | Aggregate usage statistics |
| Vercel | Server access logs | Hosting the API and the web app |
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any other third party. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose outside this product's single function.
3. What we do not collect
- No names, emails, phone numbers, or account identifiers, there's no sign-up.
- No payment or financial data.
- No precise location data (we never request geolocation).
- No page contents, screenshots, DOM, cookies, or form data from the pages you audit.
- No keystroke logging, mouse tracking, or session replay.
- No cross-site tracking via the extension.
4. Retention
The URL you submit is held in memory only for the duration of the audit request (a few seconds) and is not persisted in any database. Vercel access logs are kept by Vercel for ~30 days. Google Analytics data is retained per GA4's default settings (currently 14 months for event data).
5. Cookies and storage
- Web app: Google Analytics sets
_gacookies for measurement. No advertising cookies. - Extension: Uses
chrome.storage.localto remember your selected strategy. No cookies.
6. Your rights
Because we don't store URLs, account data, or personal identifiers, there is nothing tied to you that we could export or delete. If you want to opt out of Google Analytics on the web app, install the official Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. To stop the extension from sending any data, uninstall it from chrome://extensions.
7. Children
This tool is for developers. It is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
8. Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or how we use it, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be announced in the GitHub repository's release notes.
9. Contact
